Dead Weight

tornlineage43

This is a topic I hate to discuss. I have people who came into my life and brought me such joy. That is not to say they were not meaningful or loved. Over time, however, I noticed a pattern that I am trying so hard to break and not fall back into the pattern of. One, users; the ones who always "need" your help. A wise woman, my mom, said by continuing to help others we are standing in their way.

Their path is being guided by God and let them figure it out. This is the wisest thing I have heard to date. Stop being open or available to help others. By always offering to help, you are refusing to allow them to fail or learn from what works, or what does not work. The problem is we want to be the hero in someone's story.

That mindset is problematic. It is something we all want to do. Be the hero. Have a good story to tell. Make things better. That is something at 34 I have learned is not worth it. The stress, need to be right, or always helping others. Just stop. Move on. Let your time be spent more wiser.
